The Fitness Department at the Sammamish Club offers a large variety of professional health/fitness programs and services with the finest instructors, personal trainers, counselors and practitioners available in today’s health and fitness industry.  The Fitness Department offers the latest in technology, as well as caring, professional member services.

Group Personal Training is changing the face of Personal Training.  Accountability, fun, privacy and a “good deal” – this is what Sammamish Club Group Training is all about. It involves 3-8 participants in our private Group Training Room, exercising to your choice of music and trainer with new equipment, props and challenges.  It has never been easier to commit to personal training and to your health.

    Charles Upshaw

    Charles is a Level I & II Certified Track and Field Coach. Charles is originally from New Orleans, and ran track for Eastern Oklahoma State College and Oklahoma State University. He majored in Theatre and Fine Arts and minored in Jazz and Modern Dance. He does morning and evening orientations for new members.

    Gretchen H. Frederick

    Gretchen has a M.S. in Exercise and Sports Studies from Smith College and has worked as the Executive Director at the Sammamish Rowing Association. She brings a long history of coaching and training rowers from the novice level to competitive adults and collegiate athletes. She enjoys motivating people of all fitness levels and likes creating workouts that will keep you motivated and heading toward your goals.

    Joanne Tappero

    Joanne has a Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology from the University of Washington. She is also ACE certified Personal Trainer. She has a strong background in gymnastics both competing and coaching but currently participates in a variety of sports. She believes flexibility, strength, and aerobic fitness are essential components to maintaining good health for a lifetime. She aspires to helping members reach their goals and toward a healthy lifestyle.

    John has been a leader in the fitness industry for over 25 years. John is a personal trainer and teaches a variety of classes including circuit, cycling, cardio, funk, BOSU and core conditioning. John creates and promotes educational material for Personal Development, Motivation, and Inspiration in Health and Fitness. His energy is boundless.     Steve Trumfio

    Steve has a B.S. in Exercise Science from Arizona State University. He is nationally certified in ACSM and ACE. Steve has been in the fitness industry for over 12 years. He instructs indoor cycling, group exercise, skiing, and pool + open water swimming. Steve had been a competitive swimmer (including open water swims), competed several Triathlons, and adventure races. Steve enjoys motivating and educating people to achieve their goals.
